Choosing a Surgeon<
Cosmetic surgery is a major event in your life and you will want to choose a physician that you have complete confidence in. Do plenty of research and consider these questions when beginning your search:
- What qualifications, training and experience does the surgeon have?
- Is he or she board certified in the appropriate area?
- Is he or she a specialist in the procedure that you’re interested in?
- Where will the surgery be performed (in a hospital, clinic, or in-office suite)?
- Is financing available or is payment in full required prior to the procedure?
Consultation
It is a good idea to consult with several cosmetic surgeons before making your final choice. During this meeting, the physician should:
- Determine your state of health, both physically and emotionally, to ensure that you are a good candidate for the desired surgery.
- Prepare you for all phases of the procedure.
- Explain possible risks and complications.
- Provide realistic expectations for the final outcome.
- Disclose all costs associated with the surgery.
Recovery
The recovery time following surgery will depend upon the length and complexity of the procedure and the anesthesia involved. Some practices offer aftercare facilities and at-home nursing care to make the recovery period as pleasant as possible.
